Wings

In February 2011, Nabil Furughi and myself executed our project we had been working on for 2 months. The project started out through our common interest in kinetic sculpture and light installation through the work of artists such as Dan Flavin and James Turrell. We soon reached an agreement on what kind of illusion we wanted to create, and by combining our past experience and vast planning of every detail we were well prepared for the task. The whole structure took about a month to build, this includes welding and dressing all 22 wings, building a 6m x 4m room, with an additional 3m hallway, and of course painting the room, hanging the wings and installing the UV cannon.

The installation was on display in the show "the health and safety guy think he's soo cool" for 4 days from the 26 February 2011.

The piece is meant to explore the difference in individual conception. The hypnotic effect from the UV light triggers different connotations in the viewers, which again results in the large span of different interpretations.
